Subclass 485
Temporary Graduate Visa
This visa is applicable to Student visa holders in Australia that have completed their study in Australia. There are two different streams.
The visa can be for 18 months/ 3 years /5 years. Helps students build work experience in Australia and transition to other visas to acquire permanent residency in Australia. To apply for this visa, you need to be 35 years or younger unless you are a Masters (research) or Doctoral Degree (PhD) and hold a Hong Kong or British National Overseas passport the threshold age is 50 years.
Post Vocational Work stream –
- Have held a student visa in the last 6 months
- Have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list
Higher education stream – Post
- Have held a student visa in the last 6 months
- Have a recent degree in a CRICOS-registered course
Subclass 189
Skilled Independent Visa
This is an independent permanent visa. Points tested and invitation only visa.
You must be under 45 years old. Have the required Education, qualification, English and nominated occupation skills assessed from specific of occupation list and relevant assessing authorities

Skilled Nominated Visa
Subclass 491 (Provisional)
Skilled Work Regional Visa
The Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa is a 5 year visa – After 3 years on this visa you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency. Some of the eligibility requirements for this visa are as follow.
- Under 45 years old
- Be nominated to apply by a state or territory government agency, or an eligible relative must sponsor you
- Have an occupation on a relevantskilled occupation list
- Have a suitableskills assessment for the occupation
- Be invited to apply
- Satisfy the points test
